What do we sell?
All we do is butter. We do not offer cream, milk, or other dairy products. But we really love our butter and would be happy to talk with you about the different kinds, our process, and what makes us special!
What are the ingredients in our butter?
Just cream! And salt, if you prefer your butter salted. We do not add any colours, flavours, or supplements. It is just the cream. We keep it simple!
Is our Golden Dawn butter grassfed? Is it organic?
No. Our Golden Dawn butter is what the industry considers as conventional. The cows providing the milk are regular cows, not under any grassfed or organic certification. To be considered grassfed or organic, there are incredibly stringent requirements which must be met year round. You can read about Canadian Grass-fed regulations at the link below.

What do you feed your cows?
For us, this is a bit of a trick question because, in fact, we don’t have cows. We are simply a processing plant. We receive most of our cream from cheese plants and other dairy processors, who have no use for the cream once it is separated from the milk. We do know that the cream comes from milk from local Ontario dairy herds.
What makes our butter different?
We churn our butter the old-fashioned way. Our butter is made in single batches. Each churn is filled with cream, and then churns it into butter in an enclosed system. When the butter maker determines the butter is ready, he or she will test it, and our staff remove the butter from the churn.
Large plants will use a continuous churn, which has a constant flow of cream in one end and butter out the other end.
Do we produce for private labels?
We are happy to offer private label butter. If you are a company that is interested in private label butter, please contact us and ask for Abby; she will be happy to provide you with some start-up information.
Are we open to the general public?
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are offering curbside service via our front window. Our storefront occupancy is too small to allow customers, so please understand that we cannot let anyone inside right now. Just knock on our window and we will be happy to serve you!
Our storefront hours of operation are 9am-3pm, Mondays to Fridays.
Where are we located?
We are located at 26 Dominion St, Alliston. We are on the north side of the street, right across from the William’s Restaurant patio. Look for our OPEN sign in the window.
Are we hiring?
We will update should we be actively looking for employees. We will happily keep your resume on file, but are not currently looking for any new team members.
